Close small DXF contour gaps without joining the wrong edges
Two endpoints can look connected at normal zoom and still form an open contour. Check the reported geometry before raising the repair tolerance.
Check units before the gap
Keep the original file and open a copy in DXF Medic. Import DXF or SVG, then read the diagnosis. Compare a known part dimension with the imported size before changing units or repair settings.
A tolerance is a distance, so an incorrect scale changes what it can close. Use the units override only when you've established which units the source drawing uses.
Repair and inspect the changed contours
- Locate the reported open contours and decide whether their endpoints should meet. An intentional opening shouldn't be closed.
- Set a small gap-closing tolerance appropriate to the measured gap. The control accepts 0.01 to 5 mm; its maximum isn't a recommended setting.
- Run repair and compare the before and after views. Inspect small cutouts and closely spaced edges as well as the original gap.
- Export the repaired DXF or SVG and reopen it in your downstream software. Check dimensions and contours before creating toolpaths.
When to return to the drawing
If closing the gap changes the intended outline, return to the source drawing and repair that geometry there. Don't keep increasing the tolerance to remove every warning.
DXF Medic isn't a drawing editor or CAM system. A repaired file still needs the machining checks appropriate to the job.
